A stone for “new beginnings”. Moonstone has always been a tangible connection to the magic of the moon – an amulet of protection for travelers, a gift of passion for lovers, and a path to wisdom. Our ties to the moon are strong. As it waxes and wanes in cyclic perfection, it creates the tides & rhythms of our mother earth, and influences our behaviors, emotions and spiritual growth. Moonstone calms and encourages strength, teaching us the natural rhythms of life. It promotes inspiration, success and good fortune in love & business matters.
The name Opal was derived from the Greek word ‘Opallios’ meaning ‘to see a change of colour’. The ancient Greeks believed that opals were formed from the tears of joy wept by Zeus when he defeated the titans, and that the opal bestowed prophetic powers. The ancient Romans considered it to be a symbol of hope and good fortune. Many cultures to this day consider opal to be a lucky gemstone. Australian native Aborigines tell us that opal is our creator’s footprint, that touched the Earth at the base of a rainbow to bring harmony. Opal is one of the few gemstones that has been found outside our solar system on mars.
